The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM) and Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) will hold a joint press conference at the Karachi Press Club (KPC) at 6pm on Wedneday, DawnNews reported.
According the the KPC roster, Farooq Sattar is scheduled to address the press conference at 6pm.
Following the announcement, MQM leader Rauf Siddiqui, while asking observers not to speculate, assured the media that whatever decision the party takes will be communicated.
"Pakistan needs unity right now," he said, asking the media not to create a hype.
"Look at how the global situation is changing every moment," Siddiqui said, adding that all parties should choose their words carefully and should be on the same page to enable peace in the country.
"We want to serve the people better," Sattar said on arrival at the party's Bahadurabad office where he is meeting party leaders for last minute consultation. He refused to clearly answer what should be expected of the press conference.
MQM had severed ties with founder Altaf Hussain when he referred to Pakistan as “a cancer for the entire world” in a vitriolic speech that sent shock waves throughout the country.
They had since seen many defections to former Karachi mayor Mustufa Kamal's PSP, with the latest being the city's Deputy Mayor, Arshad Vohra.
